Vamos a paseo...

pi, pi, pi

Vamos a paseo
pi pi pi
En un auto feo
pi pi pi
Pero no me importa
pi pi pi
Porque llevo torta
pi pi pi

That pretty much sums up Portugal. =) Our guide, Lehry, taught us this children's song, which is pretty much the equivilent of the English "Wheels on the Bus." I'm pretty sure the bus driver got annoyed after hearing this song a dozen times...

I went to Portugal about two weeks ago, and let me tell you, I still miss it. The people are so kind. I know only one word in portuguese, and that is obrigada, thank you. But even so, even with my broken Spanish, and one-word Portuguese word bank, every person I talked to was nice, helpful, and appreciative that I was trying to communicate with them in anything other than English.

My favorite part was Sintra. I got to climb a castle in the middle of the woods. It was so pretty, and the town was cute. I tried my first Portuese pastry there. Mmmmm.

I love getting to talk to new people. I met a guy from India who has lived in Portugal for the last few years working on his paintings. He agreed that Portugal as a whole is sooo welcoming, y por eso, he has stayed for several years. He knew no portuguese when he arrived, but he is almost fluent now. Wow. I want to learn Portuguese! He also knows Spanish, and looking back on my conversation I can't remember if I was speaking in Spanish or English. That happens a lot now. Which, I think, is a good thing.

Every time I travel to a new country, I say, "This is my new favorite country!" hahaha. But it's so true. I loved it!
